Can You Install a Swim Spa Indoors?

Can You Put a Swim Spa in a Basement?

Basements, provided they have a high enough ceiling, can be one of the preferred locations to install a swim spa because they typically have a concrete floor which is sturdy enough to support the weight of the spa. You’ll want to use a floor sealant on the concrete or lay down another flooring material such as tile or rubber to ensure you have a slip-free surface that won’t absorb water. 

There are many advantages to installing your swim spa in your basement, including a lower installation cost since things like landscaping, excavation machinery and the preparation of a solid base won’t be needed. You’ll find your heating costs are lower and you’ll have easy, year-round access to your spa no matter the weather. It can also be a safer location for your spa if you have pets and children. 

In addition to the proper installation considerations we mentioned earlier, you’ll also want to make sure that you can get your spa into the basement! Although much smaller than a full-sized swimming pool, a swim spa probably won’t fit down an average flight of stairs.  The ideal situation for a basement swim spa installation would be to do it while the house is being built so you don’t have to worry about tight corners or low overhead clearance.
